- Eaton Great Start will provide “Family Safety Expos” in local communities and will provide care seat safety checks.
- Eaton Great Start will work with local retailers to create family friendly environments.
- Awareness of the Toddler Time literacy-based playgroups will be increased through media and outreach efforts.
- Training on Sensory Integrations will be made available to Eaton County providers who work with children birth to five years of age.
- Eaton Great Start will compile a list of current social-emotional screening tools used by agencies, and a list of programs that do/could screen for social emotional needs
- Partners will support and advocate for increased access to health and dental care for uninsured and underinsured Eaton County residents.
- Partners will provide outreach and distribution for a flyer of environmental health concerns applicable for environments that infants and preschoolers are in.
- Eaton Great Start will keep the community informed on early childhood issues through increased utilization and promotion of the website and list-serve.
- Local Community Teams and Eaton County Parks and Recreation will be encouraged to provide programs that encourage physical activity.
- Eaton Great Start Council will work to maintain participation of collaborative members and endeavor to increase active participation by business community.
- Partners will promote and work with 211, the Helping Hands website, local resource fairs, and other local services to connect families with services available.
- Eaton Great Start will track progress towards goal of increasing childcare education through coordination with Lansing Community College and the Regional Resource Center.
- Eaton Great Start will work with other community leaders to develop an annual child and family violence emphasis.
- The GSC will connect with parent education organizations and look at the possibility of providing a no/low cost expectant parents class.
- Eaton Great Start, in response to the 2008 increase in deaths due to unsafe sleep, will promote Safe Sleep in Eaton County.
- Eaton Great Start partners will explore the possibility of providing a local recognition for persons providing quality care.
- The Great Start Collaborative will support training that highlights quality care and other early childhood issues.
- Members of Eaton Great Start will work together to support families of young children by supporting and expanding current parent education programs, support groups, parent workshops, kinship care efforts, Toddler Time, and Imagination Library and explore coordinated funding opportunities.
- Eaton Great Start will work with the Eaton County Transportation Authority, faith-based groups, Dept. of Transportation, and Dept. of Human Services to explore the possibility of expanding transportation options within Eaton County.
